Print For A Purpose Launches 'Fight Poverty With Your Printer' Campaign During the Annual Send My Friend to School Week (April 24-30): "The money-raising campaign invites consumers and businesses to join the fight against poverty through the everyday use of their printers.
Montague, MI (PRWEB) April 21, 2006 -- Print For A Purpose, a cause-driven retailer based in Michigan, announces the launch of the Fight Poverty With Your Printer campaign -- kicking off officially on Monday, April 24, the first day of the Annual Send My Friend To School Week. The company is launching with an initial goal to raise $25 Million for poverty-fighting organizations over the next five years.
“Over 100 Million children around the world are not getting the education they need to increase their income potential, improve their farming practices, and stop the spread of disease,” says Mark Terpstra, founder of Print For A Purpose. “I experienced this first hand growing up in a farming village in Senegal (West Africa). Some of my boyhood friends didn’t attend school because they couldn’t afford to buy notebooks and pens.”
That’s why Print For A Purpose is launching a national effort to raise money for education, microbusiness development and other poverty needs by selling print cartridges -- a product millions of consumers purchase on a regular basis. For every cartridge purchased from the Print For A Purpose website or catalog, 5 to 10% of the purchase price is donated to nonprofit organizations that are fighting poverty.
Buying one $20 cartridge from Print For A Purpose results in a $1 or $2 donation (depending on the brand of cartridge purchased). In many countries, that’s enough to pay for year’s worth of notebooks and pens for one student. A businesses that spends $1,000 on cartridges over the course of a year will contribute an average of $75 -- enough to pay for a whole year of primary school for an impoverished child."
